In history and today, the Omani khanjar is iconic in Omani heritage and is a marker of Oman’s deep-rooted cultural identity. It is a symbol of prestige and is featured on Oman’s national emblem.  

In 2022, the Omani Khanjar was inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
