Sohar Ship
The Sohar Ship was a locally-made sailing ship which was sailed by Omani sailors for five centuries from the Sultanate of Oman to Canton Port (now known as Guangzhou), China in a 6000 nautical mile journey.
In 1980, Sultanate of Oman built a replica of a Sohar ship to re-make the historical sailing route. The ship sailed on 23 November 1980 from the Omani coasts, passing by the ports of Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Malaysia, until it reached Guangzhou in China in July 1981. The voyage celebrated the historical relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the People's Republic of China
