Omani Singapore Relations

Bilateral relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Singapore are strong and deeply rooted. Diplomatic relations between the two countries began on 21 February 1985. In May 2011, the Sultanate of Oman opened its Consulate General in Singapore, followed by the opening of Singapore's Consulate General in Muscat in August 2013. In December 2022, on the sidelines of the first strategic dialogue between the two countries, it was agreed to elevate diplomatic representation to embassies, and the decision came into effect on 1 January 2023. Singapore has a non-resident ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman.

Opening of Muscat Street

Muscat Street was officially inaugurated in Kampung Glam on 8 November, 2012 by His Excellency Sayyid Badr Bin Hamad Al Busaidi, then – Secretary General of the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and His Excellency K. Shanmugam, then – Singaporean Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister of Law.

HM Sultan Haitham’s visit to Singapore

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, may God protect him, paid a state visit to the Republic of Singapore in December 2023. This marked His Majesty’s first visit to Asia since assuming the throne, and followed the elevation of diplomatic representation between the two countries to the level of embassies. The visit aimed to strengthen historical ties, friendship, and cooperation in the maritime and economic fields, with a focus on emerging technologies, supporting startups and small businesses, developing smart cities and free zones, and enhancing collaboration in education, healthcare, and tourism.
