Throughout its history and in the present day, the Omani khanjar is iconic in Omani heritage and a marker of Oman’s deep-rooted cultural identity. It is a symbol of prestige and is featured on Oman’s national emblem. 

The Omani Khanjar was included in UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2022.
