Turtles are among of the most prominent marine creatures in Oman, especially on the coasts of Sharqiya South Governorate. These coasts attract five well-known species of turtles, which migrate annually from other seas to lay their eggs. The Ras Al Hadd Reserve has been declared a nature reserve to protect the turtles and their habitat.
